Enrollment
Requirements
The person interested in participating in the admission process for the on-campus undergraduate programs at the regional campuses must meet the following requirements:
Note 2: In the event of being admitted, students who obtained their high school diploma abroad or its equivalent must present the validation of their diploma to the Ministerio de Educación Nacional.
Note 3: The use of any type of fraudulent means in the admission process disqualifies the applicant for a period of 5 years from enrolling in any academic program at the University, without prejudice to the criminal sanctions that may apply. (Agreement No. 017/95 of the Superior Council).
Important: Students who have enrolled in an academic program at any UIS campus and find themselves in any of the following circumstances: poor academic performance (P.F.U), failure to renew enrollment within the deadlines set by UIS regulations, or semester cancellation, may only apply to another academic program at the main campus in Bucaramanga by following the admission process outlined in the current regulations. (Agreement of the Academic Council No. 201 of September 2009).
Clarification Note: At the Regional Campuses of Barbosa, Barrancabermeja, Málaga, and Socorro, the basic cycle of the Engineering programs described in the previous table is offered. Students complete the first four (4) levels and are then transferred to the Bucaramanga Campus starting from level 5, where they complete their respective academic program.
Admission
Criteria
To select students for the academic programs that begin at the regional campuses and are later transferred to the main campus in Bucaramanga, only academic merit will be considered as an admission criterion. This merit is measured in terms of the average grade obtained in the PREUIS Course for university studies taken at UIS.
Additional Criteria
In case of a tie at the cutoff line, the following criteria will be applied in strict order:
Grade in the subject of Mathematical Thinking, taken in the PREUIS Course.
Grade in the subject of Physical Processes, taken in the PREUIS Course.
Grade in the subject of Chemical Processes, taken in the PREUIS Course.
If the tie occurs among applicants who are legally eligible to vote, the spot will be awarded to the applicant who exercised that right in the elections immediately prior to the date of registration for the admission process, according to the provisions of numeral I, Article 2 of Law 403 of August 27, 1997, which establishes incentives for voters. If any of the applicants is not of voting age, this criterion will not be considered.
The spot will be awarded in the order of registration generated by the system, according to the consecutive number assigned for this purpose.
Please remember that you can only register for the admission process at the campus where you have completed and passed the introductory level.
